Based on the premise that the true Home of the Groove, at least on the North American landmass, is the irreplaceable musical and cultural nexus, New Orleans, Louisiana and environs, this audioblog features rare, hard to find, often forgotten, vintage New Orleans-related R&B and funk records with commentary. Some general knowledge of N.O. music is helpful here, but not required to get your groove on.

Shouldn't the Meters be in the R&R Hall of Fame?
This idea didn't just pop into my head. I found out today that my friend, Jon, over at nevilletracks* has set up a petition site to get the Meters inducted into the RRHF. Your "signature" is needed there to help create a groundswell for what should have already been an obvious choice. Hope you'll take a minute or two and add your name to the list. Get this influential band some official, music bidniz recognition.

Totally agree Dan, as the backing band of many New Orleans hits as well for their carreer as a band they totally deserve it !
