2007 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival Lineup
For those of you who haven't gotten the news, Jazzfest has announced the players for this year. I am sure there will be some later additions and/or subtractions; and, as always, there are big name non-jazz and non-local heritage acts to quibble over, but, you be the judge. Come on down, spend money. It's always somethin' to see and hear. Gotta run. . .

That's really a damn attractive program, most of my musical heroes are playing there that would be great to have a chance to go !
Have you already been once to the Jazz Fest Dan ? Is it easy to find a nhotel or guest house at that period ? Probably not !
Jipes, I've been going to Jazzfest (one weekend or the other, if not both) for 30 years now. Missed one year for some fool reason like buying a house; but I got my priorities straight again after that.
The longer you wait to reserve a room, the harder it can be to find one. Post-Katrina, I'm not sure how many guest houses or bed and breakfast places are back open. Some research on the WWW can tell you. If you decide to come over for it, let me know.
Hey,
Last year was my first Jazz Fest because I started going to school in New Orleans after the hurricane. There were some amazing acts but one that really stood out was Kermit Ruffins and the Barbecue Swingers. They really embody the soul of New Orleans. They play in town a few times a week when they're not on the road. They have a new live album coming out that was recorded at Vaughan's where Kermit plays every week. GET THIS ALBUM, this is what New Orleans music is about. Anyone going to Jazz fest should check him out at the festival and at Vaughan's every thursday. If you like Kermit check out other Basin St. Records artists like Irvin Mayfield who is on tour and in the next few months probably coming somewhere near you. It will be well worth the drive! See you at Jazz Fest.
Yeah, you rite. Can't go wrong with Kermit. Been hearing him since his Rebirth Brass Band days and caught him again when he played in Lafayette not too long ago. Hope people will follow your advice, anon. So many of the old school are gone - support and appreciate the new traditionalists.
