Based on the premise that the true Home of the Groove, at least on the North American landmass, is the irreplaceable musical and cultural nexus, New Orleans, Louisiana and environs, this audioblog features rare, hard to find, often forgotten, vintage New Orleans-related R&B and funk records with commentary. Some general knowledge of N.O. music is helpful here, but not required to get your groove on.

I linked to this because understanding the once and future cultural identity of New Orleans is important. We'll get back to more music this weekend. . . .
Great article Dan. Thanks for posting a link to it. The author brings a fresh perspective to the rebuilding of the city that actually makes sense. Too bad it won't be adopted - nothing else that's being tried seems to be working.

Thanks Dan ! Nice article and good prospective on New Orleans future. There is also a nice interview of Harry connick Jr and Brandford Marsialis in the Off Beat issue about the Musician's village and the credits problems Quite informative!
